Miriam Mumaw Obituary
Miriam Louise Mumaw, of Arlington, VA, died December 5, 2025. She was born January 14, 1938 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, daughter of the late John R. and Esther Mosemann Mumaw.
She graduated from Eastern Mennonite College (now University) with a degree in Business Education and completed a Master's degree at the University of Iowa. Her professional career included teaching Business at Mennonite high schools in Iowa and Virginia. She taught accounting and physical education courses at Eastern Mennonite College. She also coached women's basketball and volleyball, coaching the first Eastern Mennonite College women's intercollegiate athletic teams.
Miriam moved to the Washington, DC area to work with the Fellowship Foundation. She was one of the founding members of Washington Community Fellowship and was an active member for 43 years. She served the congregation in many roles, including as Presiding Deacon and Elder. She also served on the Finance, Human Resources, and Building committees. She was a beloved mentor, leader, and friend, known for her warm welcome to visitors and her deep commitment to the life of the congregation.
In 1982, she began a long tenure with Gammon & Grange Law Offices in Tyson's Corner, where she served as Accountant, Office Manager, and Assistant to Senior Partner. She worked with Gammon & Grange for over 40 years.

ieces and nephews and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Washington Community Fellowship, 907 Maryland Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002 with pastor Andrew Cheung officiating. A private burial will take place at the Lindale Mennonite Church cemetery in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
