William G. Ferguson, 85, of Scottdale (Mt. Nebo), passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Bill was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Scottdale, a son of the late George M. and Nellie Ritchie Ferguson, who passed away Jan. 12, 1952, and July 18, 1966, respectively. He was married to Ann Meason Ferguson, who passed away July 27, 2010. Bill graduated from Scottdale High School, class of 1944, and served his country in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Tech-5. He was a member of the Army's 88th Division "Blue Devils" and served in Italy. Following the war, Bill worked at US Steel's Irvin Works in Dravosburg prior to attending St. Vincent College in Latrobe, where he graduated in 1952 with a Business Administration Degree in economics. He was employed for 29 years at Robertshaw Controls in Youngwood and New Stanton as a billing supervisor, retiring in 1981. Bill was Protestant by faith and was a life member of the Scottdale BPO Elks Lodge No. 777. He enjoyed the fall season of the year and had a passion for horse racing, especially the Triple Crown races. Bill will be sadly missed by his devoted son, William G. Ferguson Jr., at home; his sister, Jean F. Marasco, of Greensburg; his brother, Robert B. "Bob" Ferguson and his wife, Nancy, of Scottdale (Mt. Nebo); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his special kitty, Oliver. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Ferguson Conway, Oct. 25, 1987. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. Family and friends were received Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services were held Tuesday with the Rev. Richard Patton officiating.
