Data source is the "The Mumma Family" notebook compiled by Samuel H. Mumma in 1962
----------------------------
Note - The following item found in Samuel Hertzler Mumma's notebook appears to be in error as to when the bodies were moved and by whom
-----------------------------
"They lived on the Homestead Farm near Highspire until they purchased an adjoining farm of their own. They were buried in the private cemetery on the farm, but about 1925 their grandaughter's husband, Edwin Snavely moved their bodies as well as the single children's bodies and his wife's body [Anna] to the Shope Mennonite Church Cemetery nearby. The bodies of Johannes and Elizabeth Frantz Mumma, the parents of Christian were moved also. They were all Mennonites and attended this church before their deaths."

The four sisters died of scarlet fever from May 30th to June 25th.
In this cemetery repose the remains of the first Mummas who settled in Pennsylvania.

MUMMA.-March 27th, 1896, near Middletown, Dauphin Co., Pa., Deacon Christian Mumma, aged 83 years, 11 months and 29 days. Funeral on the 31st. Text, Psalms 37:37. Buried at Shope's meeting house. Many people assembled in token of respect for the departed brother. May the good Lord comfort the bereft family.
Photos of the cemetery by Charles E. Fies and a listing of burials can be found at:

There is an error in the website of Charles Fies. In his listing he says, "In 1897 John and Elizabeth Mumma were removed to the cemetery at Shope's Church near Highspire. John and Elizabeth's son Martin (not buried here) had children, four girls who died of Scarlet Fever between May 30th and June 25th, 1862: Elizabeth, 15 years; Catharine, 10 years; Fanny, 12 years; and Anna, 13 years old."
.....
It should say, John and Elizabeth's son, Christian ........ It was Christian Mumma, not Martin whose children died of scarlet fever.
Found in Egle's Notes and Queries, Annual Volume 1897, Page 117.
The four sisters' headstones are in Shope's Cemetery, also.
