Dr. Martin L. Mumaw, Jr., 89, Washington, died Saturday at the Washington Nursing Center.
Born on Feb. 24, 1911 in Daviess County, he was the son of Martin Luther and Maude Pershing Mumaw.
A graduate of Elnora High School, he did his undergraduate at Indiana Central College. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis in 1945. He practiced in Washington from 1948 to 1997.
He was active in the community, assisting with the first Daviess County fair. He was a past president of Washington Civitian and also served as Lt. Governor. He also past president of the Washington Kiwanis. He was also a member of Washington First Christian Church, the Indiana State Chiropractic Association, and the American Chiropractic Association.
He married Zelma Bernice Waggoner on Feb. 7, 1948. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Survivors include a son Martin L. Mumaw III, Wash- ington, and a daughter, Cheryl L. Beck, Greencastle.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gill Chapel in Washington. Bro. Cliff Woodrum and Bro. Ben Bean will officiate.
Burial will be in the Scotland Cemetery in Greene County.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral service on Wednes-day at the funeral home. The Washington Kiwanis will hold a memorial service at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
