Patrick Mumma
Retired Army Lt. Col. Patrick Joseph "Pat" Mumma, 68, of Milford, Del., and previously a resident of Crofton for 33 years, died of a long illness and complications of pneumonia April 6 at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Lt. Col. Mumma was born July 11, 1939, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Indiana University and a master's of business administration from Central Michigan University.
He served in the Army for 24 years, including a tour in Vietnam and overseas assignments in Korea and Germany, where he was a member of the "Bad Tolz Tigers." He received the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals.
After retiring the military, he worked for 15 years at Providence Hospital as the administrative director of radiology. He later volunteered for over four years and was instrumental in the development of the Cardio-Vascular Lab.
At the time of his death, he was the administrative coordinator for The Institute for Advanced Cardiovascular Studies.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Mumma of Crofton; one son, Kevin Mumma of Raleigh, N.C.; four daughters, Debbie Enriquez of Waterford, Wis., Missy DiSibio of Marlton, N.J., Renee Jarstad of Hilliard, Ohio, and Jennifer Walter of Westfield, N.J.; three brothers, Roberts and Anthony Mumma of Virginia and Michael Mumma of West Virginia; and nine grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 1800 Seton Drive in Crofton.
Interment with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. June 12 in Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospital Foundation, 1150 Varnum St., Washington, D.C. 20017 or to CJ Foundation for SIDS, in memory of grandson Stephen "Chase" Walter, at HUMC-WFAN Pediatric Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
