"Walter has especially fond memories of Lloyd G. Mumaw, who, with Frank Easterby, began operations in the Carolinas in 1933. In 1960, Easterby & Mumaw merged with AmeriSteel, and Lloyd Mumaw became a principal in the new organization. Walter remembers, Mr.Mumaw did a lot for his employees and for the community. Starting in the 1950s, he would send me and some of the other drivers with company trucks to Thompson's Orphanage to take the kids to see the annual Christmas parade on Thanksgiving Day. We did that every year for 23 years"
