Sarah Preisinger
Sarah Ann Preisinger, 69, of Lake Orion, MI, passed away on February 5, 2024, from complications of Parkinson's Disease.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years George Preisinger, parents Bill and Therese Moomaw, and nephew Billy Sullivan. She is survived by her sisters Carol Krieger, Ann (Dan) Sullivan, Mary Moomaw, and Janet (Karen Cohen) Moomaw, aunts Marleen Docis and Pat Docis, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Sarah was born on March 13, 1954, in Findlay, Ohio, the first of five daughters. She graduated from River Valley High School in Three Oaks, Michigan, and attended Nazareth College in Kalamazoo.
Sarah was a gentle, strong, and determined woman. She approached her life with commitment and care, ensuring everything she was involved with was accomplished to perfection. She was loving, generous, and lived her daily life in harmony with her values. Family was the cornerstone of Sarah's life. While she did not have children, she embraced her role as a mother figure to many. Sarah and George were a team second to none. She supported him unconditionally and cheerfully cleaned up during his home renovations and many fix-it projects for family and friends. Together they enjoyed vacations centering around family events, from baptisms and first communions to sporting events, school activities, and reunions. They shared a special bond with their cousins, the Sweet family; sons Jake and Greg were like grandchildren to them. For more than 20 years, Sarah was well-known for hosting the family Thanksgiving and beamed with pride when her niece Jen's family began hosting this important event.
Her career spanned many years in the banking industry where she worked with numerous companies, as banks often merged and changed ownership. Starting as a teller, she steadily climbed the ranks to become an associate vice president of human resources. Through her work, Sarah was involved with the United Way and also mentored students making career decisions. Not ready for retirement when she left the banking world, Sarah dedicated her time as a caregiver with the Caring Company and as a staff member supporting the women's basketball team at Oakland University.
