Notes:
Note: There is conflicting data regarding where Cornelia was born. The golden wedding article says DeSota, Wis, yet her obituary says Lansing, Iowa. All census records list her state of birth as Iowa which I am using as the primary place of birth.

A CHRISTMAS WEDDING 50 YEARS AGO
--------
Was Celebrated by
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Mumma Xmas Day.
--------
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Mumma celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last Sunday, beginning with a dinner at Hotel Baker for a party of 18. The reception was in the afternoon and evening, when 160 callers came to congratulate and speak their best wishes for the couple.
Mr. Mumma was born on an Ogle county farm, which his grandfather secured from the government in Ogle county's pioneer days. He was Elias Mumma.
The family came from Hagerstown, Md., originally.
Mrs. Mumma, who was Miss Cornelia Rose of DeSota, Wis., when a young woman, went to reside with an aunt in Ogle county, adjoining the Mumma farm. The romance budded and bloomed there, and when Miss Rose returned to her home in DeSota, 50 years ago, a wedding took place, which was to be celebrated fifty years later.
Mr. and Mrs. Mumma came to St. Charles in 1901, when Mr. Mumma became a partner of Frank Betts in a transportation company. Mrs. I Mumma's sister here, who at that time was Mrs. Carrie Conklin, was instrumental in having the couple come here to reside. Mr. Mumma is now employed in the Ray W. Matteson grocery store.
The host and hostess served refreshments to all callers. A niece who attended the wedding, was here from Florida, Miss Lydia Mills.
Among those assisting at the party were the son, Ray W. Mumma and family and the daughter, Mrs. Alvin Lester and family of West Chicago. Other relatives and near friends from out of town included Mrs. Frank Be'-+,s of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mumma of Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fyfer of Dixon and J. G. Reed of Oregon. These were among the dinner guests at Hotel Baker.
Mr. and Mrs. Mumma are members of the First Methodist church. Mr. Mumma is a member of the I. O. O. F. and Mrs. Mumma is affiliated with the Rebekah lodge. They are counted with the best citizenry of this community and a host of acquaintances are proud to call them friends. May they have many more added anniversaries.
