Notes:
"Mary (Snyder) Wible's brother, Walter Snyder was a man without finances. He had asked his brother-in-law, Lewis to sign a note of loaning money from Scott Hershey who owned a sawmill. Walter Snyder, used the loan to buy livestock, farm machinery and other needs to run Lewis's farm. Walter and Lewis had an agreement which was, Lewis would pay for fertilizer, seeds etc., and Walter would work the farm and give a percentage of the earnings back to Lewis. Being that Lewis and his family lived a distance away they weren't aware of Walter's mismanagement. He wasn't paying Lewis any earnings when he was using the earnings to stock a different farm for himself. In the summer, Lewis would send his teenage boys, Glenn and Gerry to work on the farm. They would take care of the livestock and do farming chores. The two boys would help lumber trees from the property. They would pull the trees out of the woods to a sawmill on the property, help cut and load a wagon for firewood. Glenn would steer the horse drawn wagon while Gerry rode on the back using the hand brake going down hill. They would make several deliveries to the nearby town of Knobsville. After working the farm for years, Walter told Lewis that his own father was owed money for working the farm also. The loan to Scott Hershey wasn't paid, therefore Lewis had to sign over the farm to him. Lewis, learned how Walter stocked another farm with earnings that should have been his. Lewis was heart broken that the homestead was no longer his and his family's. Mary and Lewis would have nothing more to do with her father and brother." Source: ?
