Mary Mae Twigg Dies Early Today; Rites Monday
Mrs. Mary Mae Twigg, 86, a resident of No. 100-11th Street, Elkins, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning in an Elkins hospital. Mrs. Twigg had been in failing health for the past year, and her condition had been considered critical since entering the hospital Thursday evening. Mrs. Twigg had been a patient in the hospital previously from May 4, to May 18. Mrs. Twigg was born on August 1, 1873 in Keyser, Mineral Co.,WV, a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Charlotte (Dayton) Moomau. Sept. 27, 1892 she married Charles A. Twigg in McCoole, Md. Her husband Died March 21, of this year. Mrs. Twigg had been a resident of Elkins since 1908. Mrs. Twigg was a member of the First Methodist Church of Elkins. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters, Elkins Temple No. 35, the Royal Neighbors of America Camp No. 5682 and was a 50-year member of the O.E.S. of Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Twigg was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The following nieces and nephews survive: Mrs. Eileen Stanley of Wilmington, Del.; Mrs. George Grove of Greenbelt, Md.; Mrs. Pauline Stevens, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Carl Robinett of McCoole, Md.; William J. Moomau, who made his home with his aunt, Dice Moomau of Westernport, Md.; and Fred Moomau of Harrison, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the John W. Lohr Funeral Home after 11 o'clock Sunday Morning. the body will be removed to the First Methodist Church at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon where final rites will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday. The Rev. Dr. Melvin S. Risinger, pastor of the church, will officiate and interment will follow in Mapelwood Cemetery.
