Notes:
Deborah Eddy Mumma
Mercersburg, 52
Deborah Eddy Mumma, 52, Mercersburg, died peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born February 10, 1964, in Ware, Mass., the daughter of Merwyn P. and the late Inez S. Eddy. She was married to the late Ronald E. Mumma.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family: her father, Winn Eddy, McConnellsburg; two daughters: Kristen L. (wife of Sheldon) Mumma, McConnellsburg, and Allyson D. (wife of TJ) Yeager, Mercersburg; one stepdaughter, Tina Marie Wallech, Waynesboro, and a stepson, Ronald Scott (husband of Sarah) Mumma, Falling Waters; 12 grandchildren: Aaron, Alexander, Dalton, Braydon, Gavin and Ethan Mumma, Jordyn and Garrett Yeager, Jacob Wallech, Kolton, Emmersyn and Addison Mumma; and three siblings: Donna Schasserre, McConnellsburg; Darren (husband of Rhonda) Eddy, Greencastle, and Dana Eddy of Leesburg, Va.
She started her nursing career in 1991. She worked at Chambersburg Hospital for 24 years. Twenty of those years were spent as a registered nurse, and four in the IS Department as an application analyst where she retired in 2015.
Her caring heart extended beyond her family and her patients. In her last years, as she fought her own battle against metastatic breast cancer, she helped to create several initiatives that would assist others with similar struggles. The Giving Fund was created to help support area residents fighting any type of cancer, with a mission to help with the cost of everything from household needs, bills and other expenses. She was also part of the team that fashioned a very special, customizable piece of jewelry called the Ribbon of Hope and Tears, produced by Snider?s Jewelers. The personal nature of the necklace allows the wearer to honor the trials that they or their loved ones have suffered or overcome, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to cancer research.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
