Glen Ellis Owens
1922-2015
Glen Ellis Owens was born March 22, 1922 to Edward and Clois Owens in Jerome, Idaho. He passed away on July 9, 2015 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise, Idaho at age 93.
He was the third child of twelve in his family. He is survived by his brothers, Don (Nadine)of Boise and Arlias (Donna) of Bremerton, WA and his sister, Carla Mabey of Boise.
He married Ada Lucile Gardner on June 30, 1943 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had two daughters, Carla (Clair) Mumau of Waikoloa, Hawaii and Glenda (Steve) of Meridian, ID. Later in life, Florie (Bob) Glenn, their third daughter of Boise, joined the family.
After Glen and Ada were married, Glen enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the 515th Field Artillery at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was part of the liberating troops in France and Germany and part of the liberating forces at Lansberg, a satellite of Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Boise, ID where they established their home. He was employed by GE Supply Company for many years and retired with them.
He and Ada were active members of the LDS Church. They served two LDS missions and later served many years in the Boise Temple. Family was very important to Glen. He enjoyed family gatherings and didn't know a stranger. Everyone was his best friend. He always had a joke to tell or something in his pocket to give you. Many good memories were his legacy.
Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Ada; his parents; and eight of his siblings. He is survived by his three daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Meridian North LDS Stake Center located at 5555 N. Locust Grove Rd., Meridian. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Family will also greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Interment will follow the service at Cloverdale Cemetery.
