"SHARPSBURG - Wilmer McKendree Mumma, 81, of 17363 Shepherdstown Pike, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro. Born April 14, 1920, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Victor Reichard Mumma Sr. and Beulah Wilson Mumma. His wife of 51 years, Gloria Lee Glaser Mumma, died in 1999. He was a 1938 graduate of Boonsboro High School, and attended Columbia Business College. He was employed as a sales estimator by Regal Fencing until retirement. He worked for 19 years with the Washington County Commission on Aging, specializing in assisting the elderly in outlying areas of the county. He was of the Methodist faith. He was past treasurer and warden of Eureka Lodge 105 AF&AM and was a Mason. He was past president of Emett Kelly Tent 41 Circus Fans Association; member and historian for Hagerstown Model Railroad Museum Inc.; and was also active in the restoration of Antietam Station. He wrote articles on local history and published seven books. He is survived by a daughter, Sue Mumma Clark of Weaverville, N.C.; and a son, Dwight D. Mumma of Sharpsburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Bonard Morgan will officiate. Masonic services will be conducted by Mediary Lodge 140 AF&AM, Williamsport. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at his home, 7363 Shepherdstown Pike, Sharpsburg. There will be no viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Sharpsburg Area Emergency Services, P.O. Box 307, Sharpsburg, MD 21782. Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport."
