Harold C. Trager

Funeral service for Harold Clayton Trager, 93, of Newark, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, 261 E. Main St., Newark, with Pastor Jeff Perry and the Rev. Charles Imhoff presiding. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Licking County Veterans Alliance rendering military honors.
Mr. Trager, retired from the B&O Railroad (CSX), passed away Oct. 29, 2008, at Arlington Care Center. He was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Newark to the late Charles and Fern (Lynch) Trager. He graduated from Newark High School.
Harold served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Newark VFW Post. He was also a member of the Moose Club and a former secretary of N.A.R.V.R.E. He enjoyed sports and volunteered for the former Buckeye Central Scenic Railway. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was a former church trustee. He volunteered his services to the church farm, Vesper Hills.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline; son, Clayton (Goldie) Trager, of Nashport; daughter, Patricia (Charles) Hixson, of Newark; grandchildren, R. Jason Gray, Amanda (Greg) Billman, Dr. John A. Gray, Eric M. (Ileana) Gray and Nicole (Brian) Debo; five great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Trager was preceded in death by six brothers.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
