Marian (Moomaw) Brubaker, 83, of LaVerne, died on October 27, 2002, at her home in Hillcrest. Mrs. Brubaker was born on November 29, 1918, in LaVerne, to Will and Susie Moomaw. She lived most of her life in San Gabriel and LaVerne. She was married to Cliff LeRoy Brubaker for 61 years until his death in 2001. Mrs. Brubaker attended the University of La Verne and California State University at Los Angeles. Her field was Early Childhood Education and she taught pre-school aged children in the Town and Country School in San Marino for 17 years. Mrs. Brubaker was a member of the San Marino Presbyterian Church and the LaVerne Church of the Brethren. She was involved in many volunteer activities including volunteering at the San Gabriel Hospital and at the Hillcrest gift shop. She was gifted in music and sang in the Hillcrest choir. Surviving Mrs. Brubaker are her two daughters, Diane McGirr of Austria and Joan Zeller of Ohio, five grandchildren, and five great-grand children. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, at the Maury Smeltzer Lounge, Hillcrest Homes, LaVerne. In lieu of flowers, memori al contributions may be made to the Brethren Hillcrest Homes 2705 Mountain View Drive, LaVerne, CA 91750 Mountain View Drive, CA 91750. Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
