Connie Jean Thomas, 76, a 48-year resident of Bowie, MD, died September 27, 2014 at her home after a 20-year battle with Parkinsons. Born February 8, 1938 in McGaheysville, VA to Mary Moomaw and the late Robert Moomaw, Connie was a Registered Nurse who earned her Associates Degree from PG Community College. She was employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital's Cancer Unit in Baltimore, MD, Doctors Hospital in Lanham, MD and as a Hospice Care Coordinator for PG County. Connie was a 48-year member of St. Mathew United Methodist Church in Bowie, MD. She enjoyed photography, growing flowers, sunbathing, dancing, scrapbooking, playing sports- basketball, softball and golf - while growing up high school, going to her son's and grandson's sporting events, being a Sunday school church helper, participating in the Bible Study Group, and most of all, helping others. In addition to her mother, Connie is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas; sons, Marc Thomas of Bowie, MD and Steve Thomas of Arlington, VA; sister, Jane Stafford of Ocala, FL; and four grandchildren. Visitation is 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Sunday, October 5th at the Robert Evans Funeral Home in Bowie where a funeral service will be held 11 AM, Monday, October 6th. An additional visitation will be held at Elmore Funeral Home, Moorefied, West Virginia from 9 to 11 AM Tuesday, October 7th.Interment to follow at Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, West Virginia.
