Dates about when they moved to Florence seem conflicted. Maude reports when Frank was a baby, being about 1857, while the 1990 Moomaw book says 1872, when he would have been 17. Moving from Warsaw makes sense, since that's in same county as census puts them. Maude's birth locations of children don't corroborate either date, but clearly prefer the later. Maud's info about store and home can't be verified. Nothing exists of old homestead. Most of the old homes have burned or been torn down. Since Daniel was a farmer in Indiana, likely he continued doing so in Alabama. Maud's notes about having a large log house, and having a store don't seem likely.
Related info comes from 1883 will from Daniel (Jimmy Moomaw has original); Also see copy of 1910 letter from Frank (Geraldine Parker has original) regarding settling Daniel's estate. Only Steve and Will seemed to get a share. Daniel's will, Jan 2 1883, Lauderdale Co, AL:
"I Daniel Moomaw am justly indebted to my wife Elizabeth Moomaw in the sum of $50 for property received of her at our marriage which property I have used. Now in consideration of the said $50 the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge and the further consideration of the love and affection which I bear to my beloved wife Elizabeth Moomaw I have this day given bargained sold and conveyed to my said wife the following real estate viz the W 1/2 of the ?E 1/4 and the E 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of Section 6, T2 R11 West all lying and being in the state and county aforesaid. Also the following personal property viz one mule - one horse - two cows - one heifer - two calves - eight head hogs - one wagon - four feather beds and all my bedding - fifteen barrels corn - three hundred bundles of fodder - two tons hay - all my plows and plow gear - all my household kitchen furniture. To have and to hold to the said Elizabeth Moomaw her heirs and assigns forever. Witness my hand and seal this Jan 2nd 1883 - Daniel Moomaw. [Witnessed by the Justice of the Peace for county]."
[Note: Robt Moomaw 1990 book shows Daniel death on 17 Jul 1898 in Emery Mills, AL (?)
migrated from Warsaw, IN in 1872 to Alabama]
In the 1850 census, Daniel is living next door to his father.

The census image is too faint for me to transcribe accurately. I can make out these names. The information suggests family went to AL where one child was born, went back to IN where another child was born, then returned to AL.

There is also a Frank Moomaw, age 20 living with an Alex Hamony family as a farm laborer. this is probably the same person as Elias F. Moomaw listed above and he was counted twice. Apparently his family called Elias, but he went by Frank.
