Marvin L. Moomaw Jr. - (Florence Times Daily)
Mr. Marvin L. Moomaw Jr., 83, of Florence, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at ECM Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence. The funeral service for Mr. Moomaw will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence. Brother Mark White and Brother Harold Comer will officiate.
Mr. Moomaw was a graduate of Coffee High School in Florence and was a member of College View Church of Christ. He was an active participant of the Dulcimer Players and participated in basket-weaving demonstrations at Pope's Tavern.
He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Mr. Moomaw will be missed by those who loved him.
Mr. Moomaw was preceded in death by his parents Marvin L. and Bessie Moomaw, and his half-brother, T. C. Underwood.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Evelyn Moomaw, of Florence; daughters, Pamela Lothridge and Tom, Melanie Higgins and Marion, Marilyn Pannell and Tim; grandchildren, Lorie Freitas and Paul, William Davis and Michelle, Justin Pannell, Daniel Pannell, Rebecca Higgins; great-grandchildren, Rowan Freitas, Savannah Davis, Sawyer Davis; sisters, Agnes West, Deedie O'Steen and D. C., Nell Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Wallace, David "Chap" O'Steen, William Davis, Justin Pannell, Daniel Pannell and Joe Gardinski. Honorary bearers will be D.C. O'Steen, elders of College View Church of Christ and retirees of Diamond Shamrock.
Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
