Henry E. Mummah, 90,
Marine Corps veteran of World War II

Henry E. Mummah, 90, of Rosemont and formerly of Newtown Square, died May 14 at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester.
Born in Natalie, Pa., he was a 1939 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. After high school he worked as an electrician for General Electric.
Enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps at the start of World War II, Mr. Mummah served in the South Pacific Theatre and fought in the battles of Saipan and Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart along with numerous other distinguished medals and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
Following the war, Mr. Mummah and his father built a home in Newtown Square, where he resided with his wife until 1999.
After working in various jobs Mr. Mummah rejoined General Electric until retiring in 1979.
A mason and a member of the Marine Corps League, Mr. Mummah remained active in the community following his retirement and belonged to many groups.
He was the widower of Emma C. Lucas Mummah and the father of Carol Ann Wilkinson, who died in 2005.
Survivors: Three grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 2220 S. Sproul Road, Broomall section of Marple.
Visitation: 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial: Glenwood Memorial Park, Concord.
