Chrystal F. Mumma, 100, formerly of Port Byron, Ill., died Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the Aspenwood Care Center, Silvis. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, Hillsdale. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
The former Chrystal Frances Bryan was born January 8, 1906, in Canton, Ill., the daughter of Ross and Stella Proctor Bryan. She married Francis Mumma on May 28, 1927, in East Moline. He died on January 10, 1991. She had been employed at the Quad City Credit Bureau and had been an operator for the former Port Byron Telephone Company for many years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Dietz, and her friend, Darrell Goar, Hillsdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Gerry Mumma, Port Byron; grandchildren, David Mumma, Silvis, Daniel Mumma, Lynn Center, D.J. Mumma, Iola, Kan., Doug Zumaris, Hillsdale, and Debbie LeBlanc, Port Byron; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd and Marvin.
