In his obituary, his wife is listed as Jessie Wake. When a child of a few month of age, at the death of her mother, she was taken by her aunt, Mrs. Nancy Mumma. In 1884 she attended the wedding of her aunt to Casius Wake of Port Byron, and went into the new home with them where she lived until her marriage. This is why she was often called Jessie Wake.
