Fern Plunkett, 89, of Eaton, died Thursday, Oct. 1, at Oak Ridge Rehab and Specialty Care Center in Richmond, Ind. Born Feb. 19, 1909, in Virden, Ill., she was the daughter of Irvin J. and Bertha (Mumma) Brubaker. Mrs. Plunkett had lived in Eaton since 1949 and spent the winter months in Sarasota, Fla. She was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman S. Plunkett, in 1996; and three sisters, Orpha Garst, Miriam Wrightsman and OnaMae Miles.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Barbara Plunkett of Eaton; a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Rolf Theen of Lafayette, Ind.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 5, at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Greg Hyre and the Rev. Martin Peacock officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
