Data source and researcher is Douglas Mumma, 2123 Farmington Place, Livermore, CA 94550
"The Mumma Family" by Samuel H. Mumma 1962, lists Frederick Mumma on page 81 of his book, but he makes a significant error by connecting the Frederick Mumma branch which lived in Cumberland County, PA as the son of immigrant Jacob Mumma. This is incorrect. The father of Frederick Mumma of Cumberland County was a John Mumma and that family came from Dauphin County to Cumberland County around 1800.
From his brother's Will, [Jacob Mumma], we know Frederick was living in Donegal Township in 1791
The following tax records for Donegal Township of Lancaster County was extracted by Denise Lahr, IMAHLAHR@aol.com

Denise Lahr also provided the following Deed information.:
1) Deed E-331 from Frederick and Frena to Jonas Nolt on Jun. 29, 1759 for land in Hempfield.
2) Deed K-63 Frederick and Frena bought land in Donegal and mortgaged it to George Mumma in In 1763. This mortgage was paid by 1772.
Deed E-331 identifies that Frederick and Frena initially bought land and lived in Hempfield townshp. The land was bought brother. The parcel description clearly identifies the property location based on the original draughts of West Hempfield township (Journal of the Lancaster County Historical Society, Vol 67 #2, Spring 1963). That map shows the adjoining lands of Michael Siegrist, Philip Nolt and David Musselman. I presume Jonas Nolt, Philip Nolt's eldest son, inherited the property from his father which originally contained 240 acres. He must have subdivided it for Frederick Mumma and wife Frena Nolt who was his sister. This property was about 1 mile north of Silver Springs
About 1763, Frederick and Frena sold the land in West Hempfield and moved to Donegal township where they resided for the rest of their lives.

In Margaret Dieringer's Newsletter, Volume 1, #2, page 7, she wrote the following:
---------------------------------
I have copies of two handwritten sheets from the files of the Lancaster County Mennonite Historical Society, Lancaster. It is not clear who wrote them:
"
Copied Aug 1856 from a small book Uncle John Mumma has --
Family records of grandfather and his offsprings to the present time. Frederick Mumma was born in Germany, came to America young, died February 8, 1814 and was 84 years of age. His wife, Fronica, her maiden name was Nolt, died in 1807. They had nine children - John, Elizabeth, Jacob, Aney (Amy), Christian, Barbara, Jonas, David, and Mary. These came to maturity.
"
From the birth dates which are known, it appears that the above children were listed in birth order.

------------------------------------------
On the 19th of February, 1814, Jacob Kraybill and Martin Nissly made an inventory of Frederick's estate. There were several Notes and bonds to David Muma in the amount of $316 or about 1/2 of the estate value. What is strange is that David Mumma, his presumed son is not mentioned in his father's Will.

1776, Pennsylvania, United States, In the masterly address delivered by the late Hon. Marriott Brosius, at the unveiling of the monument to the memory of the Revolutionary soldiers of Donegal, Oct. 5, 1899, we find this passage
"The Continental Congress provided for the appointment of committees of Observation and Correspondence, in each county. Donegal was represented in that committee by Bartram Galbraith, Alexander Lowery, James Cunningham, Frederick Mumma and Robert Craig. The duty of this committee was to attentively observe the conduct of all persons touching the use or sale of interdicted articles, or opposing, in any way, the patriotic efforts of the Colonists to free themselves from the oppression of Parliament. If any one was found delinquent in these particulars, they were declared to be enemies to American liberty, and thereafter patriots would abstain from dealing with them. Boycotting was thus early employed to promote patriotism. Few of the Donegalians, however, became amenable to this boycott, for their aggressive patriotism urged them to do too much, rather than too little for the cause of the Colonies, and they fully agreed with Franklin, that a cup of tea, the cost of which helped to pay the salaries of tyrants, would choke any decent American."
