JOHNSON Leonora Kimball "Lee" Johnson, age 85, died on March 10, 1999 at her home in Ponte Vedra, after a long illness. Her husband of 21 years, George Tewksbury Johnson Jr., died in 1988. Before moving to Fla. in 1981 they lived in Columbus, Oh. She was born in Swampscott, Mass., her parents were Fred N. and Leonora B. Kimball, her brother was Nelson W. Kimball, all now deceased. She had three children with her previous husband, George E. Mumma, who died in 1995. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Gretchen Chapin of Las Vegas, Nev. and Lyn Mumma Sherman of Toganga, Calif. Her son Roger Mumma, preceded her in death in 1996. She also is survived by 3 of her step-children, George T. Johnson III, Ann J. Shay and Sandra S. Johnson, all of Columbus, Oh. Her other step-daughter, Pamela B. Johnson preceded her in death. She leaves five grandchildren, Roger Chapin of Arlington, Tex., Lisa Gilmore of Westerville, Oh., John Gorter of Lakeland, Fla., Louise Hammer of Portland, Oreg. and Dougles Gorter of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; in addition to 10 great-grandchildren. She was well known for her extensive knowledge of birds and as an early environmentalist. She was a lifelong member of the Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy, HSUS, Colonial Dames and Children's Hospital in Columbus. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Bexley, Oh. and Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Memorial service at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Bexley, Oh. on March 20 at 10 a.m. Burial immediately afterwards at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lee requested contributions be made to the Columbus Audubon Society, P.O.
