I recall a little incident that happened that needs to be remembered
by my children. One day, (about 1958) I was with grandmother Cora Morris escorting
her around on errands that needed to be done. She asked if I would take her to
Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield and as any good grandson I said sure thing
and she showed me her grand parents burial place, but as most young men my age, I
wasn't interested in things not pertaining to me or of things of the present
time so I went through the motions of satisifing her for what she asked.
Now, forty years later, a man's interest changes and I was just starting
to research and look for my ancestors and naturally, I thought I would
look for my wife's ancestors and I started with the Barbara's immediate family
and her fathe'rs side who grandmother was a Brubaker and so I started looking
back for her father and grandfather and eventuallly found the name of Daniel
Brubaker and I needed to know where they came from and where they died and
eventulally after more than a year I found they were buried at the Ferncliff
Cemetery and I visited the office to get the location of the graves. The minute
I pulled up and walked to the grave I then remembered grandmother taking me with
her there many years before and then I recalled her telling me if at any time I
might look for any of the Brubakers to be sure to add the spelling of
Brewbacher and you know she was right so grandmother ,where ever you are, you
gave me these fond memories.
