Christian served during the Civil War, entering 9 Aug.1862 in the 94th OHI Co.G at Camp Piqua, probably buried in Lebanon, Ky. Died of Typhoid Fever. The parents of Christian Mumma Jr. received a letter of his death by a Steward at the Hospital and the letter reads as follows;

Lebanon, Kentucky, Nov. 12th,1862
Mr. Mumma,
It is my lawful duty to inform you of the death of your son, Christian Mumma. He died in this Hospital, Nov. 1st, 1862 of Typhoid Fever. The letters and his description roll were in his pocket. I have done up in a packet and sent to you by express. He had nothing of value about him. Hoping the above will meet with your approbation.

This was a letter that Hannah (Reynolds) Mumma used as proof for her pension which amounted to be $12.00 for her and the raising of two minor children.
