The following quotation is from Rev. Orrin Wade Sidener's book written in the 1960's:
"Clarence Wesley Muma, 2nd child of the Wm. Henry Muma family b. at their Wheatland Twp. home June 24, 1891, is still a resident of same Twp. where he spent his entire life. Educated in Walnut Grove district school on a part of the pioneer John J. Sidener homestead which was [inherited] from his mother from her father Samuel Sidener, Junior. In 1927 he became engaged in the dairy business on an extensive scale and also farmed. He was very much interested in breeding fine thorough-bred [sic] livestock. Lived in [several communities] in Wheatland Twp. On October 12, 1912 he married Bertha Maude Eyestone whose history appears on another page of this book. Had five children: Marvin Kenneth, b. Sept. 14, 1913; Elberta Faye, b. March 30, 1915; Helen Blanche, b Feb. 21, 1917; Neal Edgar, b Sept. 29, 1921; and Joyce O'Jean, b. Aug. 18, 1931. All married. The family were attendants of the M. E. Church of which Mrs. Muma was a member of long standing. Mr. Muma was republican in politics and active in the social, civic and political affairs of Loogootee, Ill where they purchased a home Dec. 1953 in his yrs. of retirement. On Nov. 16, 1955 suffered heart attack from which he recovered and visited his daughter who lives in Texas afterward. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Oct. 1956 & enjoy a host of loyal friends, neighbors and acquaintance[s]. In 1946 their oldest son was nominated by the Republican Party of Fayette County and made the race for Sheriff, being defeated by 750 votes. All the family are hospitable, & this editor appreciates the interest and cooperation of Mr. Muma in the supply of information for the completion of this family history, which we hope he will enjoy reading all about the generations of his ancestors."
