"FAIRPLAY - Betty A. Mumma, 76, of 8625 Sharpsburg Pike, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at her home. Born Sept. 14, 1925, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Preston Roy and Ruth Garner Hockensmith. Her husband, Hershey E. Mumma, died July 3, 1989. She retired in 1982 from First American Bank of Virginia, where she worked as an operations assistant; and was employed part-time at Bon-Ton for five years. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a member of Funkstown Post 211, American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Gary L. Mumma of Remington, Va.; one sister, Janice Horner of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Hockensmith and Bob Hockensmith, both of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Preston Hockensmith, Arnold Hockensmith and Roger Hockensmith. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown."
