Notes:
He was a blacksmith. He traveled to Ohio in 1804 with a nephew,
Martin Baum, who was a government surveyor. He led the family back to
Clark Co., OH in 1825 and 1827.
Data source is Dr. John H. Warvel, [deceased]
In 1997, John wrote the following message to me.

As I recall Barbara Mumma Warble did go Ohio in 1827. She was soon
settled in the Springfield area. Her eldest daughter, Sarah Warble
Kershner was married to Jacob Kershner, Jr. According to the story
his father, Jacob Kershner, Sr. had traveled to Ohio in 1823 or 1824
to look for land. He traveled with a surveyor whose name escapes me
now, but who purchased many acres of land in the "between the rivers
survey."
Jacob Kershner, Sr. was a resident of Washington County, Maryland
and I think he lived in or near Hagerstown. Don't remember any of
them living near the Mumma family of the Sharpsburg area, but I could
be wrong.

Jacob was buried in the Greenmount Cemetery, but his tombstone and that of his son and his son's mother-in-law (Barbara Mumma Warbel) can no longer be found and are missing.
******************* Information from the Public Library ************************
Dear Mr. Doug Mumma,
With the Greenmount Cemetery Records by James P. Duffy, I was able to verify the information you provided about Barbara Warble's grave was correct. The record listed Mrs. Warble died on October 5, 1864 and she was buried in Section 2 Northwest in Lot 42, and the owner of the lot was Jacob Kershner Sr. However, I was unable to find any plot map of the cemetery. I would suggest contacting the Clark County Historical Society. The Library/Archives of the Clark County Historical Society has a large collection of Greenmount cemetery records, which includes a map of plot owners as well as additional records about the cemetery. Contact the Library/Archives directly with any questions relating to available resources at 937-324-0657 ext 234.

I included any information provided about every Kershner listed in Greenmount Cemetery, written exactly from the publication.
