Arlene M. Newcomer, 78, of the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, formerly of Mount Joy, died Saturday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a three month illness. For the past two years she had been employed as a hostess at Leaman's Country Lodging in Leola. Prior to that, she had worked in the IGA store in Mount Joy for 20 years and as a deli kitchen worker at Willow Valley.
A member of First Assembly of God Church in Lancaster. she organized a children's ministry in many area churches and was a child evangelist.
Born in Mount Joy, she was a daughter of the late Martin S. and Lillian Mumma Newcomer.
Surviving are three sisters, Anna F., married to Richard S. Enck of Manheim, Mary N., married to C. Raymond Eshleman of Cleona, and Martha N., married to Elvin T. Harnish of Willow Street.
