"Nellie Mae May, 84, of 206 Winding Oak Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at her home. Born Feb. 25, 1920, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Brewer and Sally Roberta Widmyer Mumma. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Glen Davis, in 1947. She was a 1938 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a secretary for South Hagerstown High School and other schools, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of Epworth League and adult fellowship. She was a member of Williamsport Homemakers, Potomac Garden Club, Golden Bulldogs and Washington County Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis May, whom she married Aug. 12, 1951; one daughter, Karen L. Teach of Hagerstown; three sons, Gary L. Davis and Robert L. May II, both of Hagerstown, and Timothy A. Davis of Williamsport; one sister, Mary Bendell of Hagerstown; one brother, T. Jack Mumma of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Reid Obniski and Margaret W. Rowland and three brothers, Jacob M. Mumma, Elwood Mumma and Robert Wisemen. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamsport United Methodist Church, Williamsport. The Rev. Marcia Mayor will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Williamsport United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 25 E. Church St., Williamsport, MD 21795 or American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport."
