Dorothy Mumma Endress, 93, of 318 Hawthorne Drive, died at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, on Saturday,[November 22,2008], after a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of Earl F. Endress, who survives her. They had married during WWII and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Nov. 12, 2008.
Born in Maytown, [Lancaster Co., PA] she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Miller Mumma. She was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County, [PA].
After studying at Millersville State Teachers College, Mrs. Endress began teaching in 1933 at an Amish one-room school in eastern Lancaster County. She later taught kindergarten and first grade at the Hambright Elementary School in the Penn Manor School District for many years.
She was a member of Zion Church, Millersville, [PA]
Surviving her, in addition to her husband, are a son, John, daughter-in-law Michelle and grandson, Daniel, all of Stone Mountain, GA, as well two nieces and a nephew.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral at Zion Church of Millersville, 317 N. George St., Millersville, PA on Monday, December 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the church on December 1st from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA on Monday, December 1st, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to Zion Church of Millersville, 317 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551.
