Richard M. Fletcher died 2/20/1993 at Chestnut Hill, Pa. He was married to Betty Lide Fletcher, who died in 1987 - two sons John & Douglas
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Inquirer, Wednesday, February 24, 1993:
RICHARD MUMMA FLETCHER, 77, professor emeritus of psychology at Ursinus College, died Saturday at Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Mr. Fletcher received a bachelor's degree in English at Franklin and Marshall College, then a master's in business from Harvard University. After serving in World War II and briefly working in industry, he continued his studies at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a doctorate in industrial psychology.
He taught at Ursinus College for 30 years, from 1956 to 1986. He chaired the psychology department from 1961 to 1974.
He never ceased in his own intellectual development. He participated in National Science Foundation summer seminars and served on faculty committees. An advocate for the mentally retarded, he was a board member of the Montgomery County Association for Retarded Citizens.
Survivors: sons, John S. and Douglas F., and a brother, James.
Services: memorial, 2 p.m. Sunday in Bomberger Hall, Ursinus College, Collegeville.
