OBIT - John S. Mumma, 76, tour bus driver
John S. Mumma, 76, of217 Fawn Meadow Crossing, died Tuesday, 4/16/2002, evening at Lancaster Regional Medical center after a brief illness.
A charter bus driver for Conestoga Tours, he retired in 1998 after 20 years. Mumma drove throughout the 48 continuous states, took three trips to Alaska and traveled through most of the Canadian provinces.
He and his wife also operated the Jolly Senior Citizens Bus Tours. He previously was a school bus and charter bus driver for Johnson Bus Service, Mount Joy.
He was a member of the Landisville Mennonite Church. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, flower gardening and taking care of his lawn.
Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the Late Clay B. and Lizzie Stern Mumma.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lolita J. Haverstick of Lancaster, two sons, John S. II, married to Crystal Earnest Mumma of Elizabethtown, and Karl B. of Lancaster; six grandchildren; a great grandson; two brothers, Thomas S. Married to Doris Sweigart Mumma, and Clay S. married to Hilma Gebhard Mumma, both from Elizabethtown and three sisters, Jean E., married to Harold Hostetter of Columbia, Anne, married to Ernest Lantz of Coatsville, and Pauline, married to Vernice Begly of Tiskilwa Ill.

Mumma.- Clay B., son of John B. and Lizzie (Bear) Mumma, was born in East Hempfield Twp., Pa., May 29, 1903; died of a heart attack at his home, in Elizabethtown, Pa., Jan. 25, 1980; aged 76 y. In August 1924, he was married to Lizzie Stern, who died on Nov. 5, 1948. Surviving are 3 daughters (Jean-Mrs. Harold Hostetler, Anne-Mrs. Earnest Lantz, and Pauline-Mrs. Vernice Begly), 2 sons (John S. and Clay S., Jr.), 23 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one sister (Edna Greider). He was a member of Bossler Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Jan. 28, in charge of Harlan M. Hoover and Glenn Martin; interment in Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery.
