5 Aug 2007: Howard John "Butch" Goodling, 60, Middletown, son of the late Ralph D. and Erma A. Mumma Goodling entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 31, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his older brother Ralph D. Goodling, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Danielle N. Goodling and her mother, Mary E. Goodling, both of Harrisburg; sister Joyce Millis of Oberlin; brother Larry Goodling and his wife Jeanne of FL; brother Dennis Goodling and his wife Chris of Camp Hill; niece Sue Pitcher of Oberlin; niece Lisa Hassenger and her husband Michael of NC; nephew Eric Goodling and his wife Emily of Mechanicsburg; great nephews Cameron and Mitchell Goodling, and Ethan and Alex Hassenger. Butch was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served aboard the destroyer USS Alfred Cunningham in the Pacific Fleet from Subic Bay, Republic of Philippines. He retired from the Commonwealth of PA with 30 years of service at Harrisburg State Hospital, where he was a Psychiatric Aide and later a commercial vehicle driver. After retirement, he also worked for Rohrer Bus, Bobby Rahal Toyota, and finally Bethany Village. Butch cared for so many people during his life and it was always in a non-complaining, gentle way. He kept that attitude of caring to the very end and brought his own family and friends much joy and comfort. Funeral Tuesday, August 7, at Musselman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Lemoyne, Rev.
