Paulyne Mumaw, 92, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:15pm Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Sprenger Health Care of Mishawaka. She was born June 8, 1922 in Alaska, MI to the late Henry and Myrtle (Timm) Duis. She lived in Bradenton, FL for over 20 years before coming to Michiana in 2013.
On June 7, 1941 in Niles, MI, Paulyne married George Mumaw, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2005. She was also preceded by grandchildren, Arnold Mann, Jr., Marsha Darr and Dana Mann; and brothers, Jack, Raymond and Henry Duis Jr.
Paulyne is survived by daughters, Sandy L. (Raymond) Heilman and Paula (Arnold) Mann, both of south Bend; sons, Thomas (Lyn) Mumaw of Bradenton, FL and Jerry (Beth) Mumaw of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Scott and Greg Heilman, Kim (Van) Jones, Jacqui Schaefer, Kevin Mumaw, Kelly (Joe) Feeser, Tara Eary, Tracey Thomas, Tricia (Hoyt) Barlow, Jeff (Kristen) Mumaw, Jon (Carrie) Mumaw and Crystal Bland; 24 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Marjorie Rhude and Donald (Geri) Duis, both of Niles, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Paulyne graduated from Niles High School in 1940. She graduated with a secretarial science degree from Ivy Tech in South Bend in 1983 at the age of 61. In her early years ?back in the day?, she worked at many fine restaurants including, Volcano, Sherry Ann, Rocky?s and Robert?s Supper Club. Paulyne enjoyed summers at Camp Wildwood, fishing with her family. She also enjoyed dressing up like a clown for parades and as Santa for Christmas events. Paulyne served as past president of the Women?s Club at Parkway Villas in Bradenton, FL. She loved watching sports, including Notre Dame football and Tampa Bay Bucks football and Rays baseball.
In the past few months, many hours were dedicated to her amazing care by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her massages by her granddaughter. And no one could tuck her in bed with her ?Butt Bear? like Greg, and she let everyone know it! She loved spending summers with her granddaughter, Tara, who always made her birthday parties special. She spent her last summer in Florida with her granddaughter Tricia and family.
Mom and Dad were very grateful for the many years of care given by their sons and daughters-in-law, Tom (Lyn) and Jerry (Beth). The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice and the staff at Sprenger Health Care, as well as her favorite nurses/aides, Evelyn, Jamie, Bo and Mlekua, who always made ?ma-ma? laugh and lifted her spirits with all the special attention she got from them.
Memorial services for Paulyne will be held at 12:00 noon Sunday, February 15, 2015 in the Palmer Funeral Home ? Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Burial will take place at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am ? 12:00 noon Sunday in the funeral home prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Paulyne is survived by sons Thomas/Lyn, Mumaw of Bradenton , Jerry/Beth, Mumaw of University Park. Daughhters Paula /Ace Mann & Sandra / Ray Hielman South Bend.
