Elizabeth Delawder Obituary
Elizabeth May Mumaw Delawder, 79, of Basye, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2026.
Liz (as she was known) was born January 2, 1947, to the late Romanus Mumaw and Catherine Barb Mumaw Dellinger Mauck.
On June 4, 1966, she married Elmer Curtis Delawder, who preceded her in death January 14, 2025.
Together she and "Curtis" built a beautiful life, traveling and being stationed with the US Army in Germany, Hawaii, New York, West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia, where they settled to raise their family of their farm.
Liz was a stay at home mom for many years while looking after numerous foster children, then going on to raise their sons before beginning a career at Walmart in Woodstock, VA, until she retired.
Left behind to carry on her legacy are 2 sons, Brock Delawder of Basye and Shane (Calissa) Delawder of Jerome. Three grandchildren; Courtney Stillwell, Dakota Delawder, and Dinah Delawder. Four great-grandchildren; Jeffrey Bright, Kaylee Bright, Zora Delawder, and Ivan Bright. Special granddaughter Caitlin Martin, and special great-grandchild Axel Martin.
Also surviving are two bothers Kenneth Mumaw and James Mumaw, both of Gettysburg, PA. Two sisters, Ruby (Frankie) Miller of Gettysburg, PA, and Betty (Robert) Dinges, of Winchester, VA.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Arnold Barb, Randolph Mumaw, Sylvenus Mumaw, Earl Mumaw, Nancy Cooke, Mary Gochenour, Margaret Dellinger, Lena Randel, and Virginia Nair.
She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
Per her request, she will be cremated and laid to rest in the Delawder Family Cemetery in Basye. There will be no formal services. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
