There is a document file in Washington County, MD in which Elizabeth Hertzler Mumma (wife of Jacob Mumma) and Barbara Hertzler Sherrick, authorize Jacob Mumma to act in their behalf regarding the estate settlement of their father, John Hertzler in Lancaster County, PA This document was written in 1799.
John's will was filed in Lancaster Co., PA - G-3-393
An inventory of his estate was recorded on March 4, 1795, so he probably died a few days prior.
What is interesting is the accounting shows that 309 pounds was paid to John Mumma for unknown reasons. The estate had a value of 545 pounds. Was this payment to John for the land? Which John Mumma is this person. My guess is it is John Mumma who married Barbara Bower and moved to York/Adams Co, PA
