Hazleton Plain Speaker; Thursday, January 5, 1899:
Yesterday afternoon John R. Mumaw died at the home of his brother, William, corner Beech and Pine streets, aged 47 years. Deceased was a cripple from birth, having been paralyzed to a very great extent. He had been ill for seven months past and bedfast for the past six weeks. The end came peacefully, the unfortunate man having been unconscious since Saturday. Notice of funeral in another column.
