Alvan R. Mumaw, 44, of 100 Putnam St., West Hazleton, a well known drummer, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at the State General Hospital where he had been a patient since last Tuesday.
Born in Conyngham, Feb. 21, 1928, a son of the late John and Romaine (Horsfield) Mumaw, he had resided in this area his entire life.
He was last employed by the Hazleton Area School District.
The deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and its Ushers Association, and the Musicians Union.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Trump; four children, Doreen, a student at the Pennsylvania State University; Michael, Denise and Mark, at home; a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Jean) Smulligan, this city; and a brother, Robert.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald W. Ealy, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
