In Robert Moomaw's book, his lists this John as John Christian Mumma. I now feel certain that this John probably never had a middle name of "Christian".
There is a marriage listed in the New Holland Trinity Lutheran Church on 30 Oct 1810 of a John Mumma to a Catharine Leypel. It is unknown if this was a first marriage for John Mumma/Mumaw or it was his uncle's marriage. Likewise, it is unknown if the the Susanne Mumma that was baptized to a John and Catharine Mumma in New Holland Trinity Lutheran Church on 2 Aug 1811 was his daughter or someone else.
Records of some of the children came from an unpublished manuscript of Raymond E. Hollenbach, "Christ Union Lutheran and Reformed Church", Conyngham, Luzerne Co., PA.
Ref - John Mumaw...

Baptism of son David - father listed his name as John Momma
Baptism of daughter - father listed his name as John Moma
Baptism of son Johannes - father listed his name as John Suma
Baptism of son Wilhelm - father listed his name as John Muma
His birth is estimated from the 1850 census.
His death is recorded in the "daybook" of Rev. Isaac Shellhammer, page 37, listing of monies due for funeral credits of John Muhma.
It is likely that John & Catherine attended the Christ Union Lutheran and Reformed Church of Conyngham, PA. Much later some of his line changed to the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton.
Catherine's name is listed in the will of her father, John (Michael) Seiwell, Luzerne County, Will Book A, page 482, probated September 23, 1836. She is listed as the wife of John Muma.
Her family lived in Sugarloaf Twp. and I believe she was probably born there. The family came from Montgomery County, PA but the date has not been determined. The family is listed as Seiwell, Seible, Seibel. Her year of birth was estimated from the 1850 census.

Jean Cawley Corazza shared the following information she obtained from Mrs. Margaret Fink, Conyngham, PA. It is part of an autobiography by a Mr. Grant, born in 1828 and written in his 89th year (1917). He had suffered a stroke and his right had was paralyzed. He taught himself to write with his left hand. A person recently typed thje manuscript (1982). Mr. Grant lived in Conyngham from 1841 to 1846.

The Mumars family lived on a small place about 1/2 mile east of the main road. There was an old man and wife, four sons and one daughter, The two sons, Nathan and David and the old man were carpenters. The two younger boys, George and William, were intimate associates and chums with me. I was often with them at their home. I shall never forget their mother. She was such a kind, sociable old lady. Her daughter married Stephen Andreas who had a sawmill on the state road about 2 miles from Hazleton. George went to work in the foundry and learned the trade of a moulder. He later married a daughter of John Menig. He died soon after that. His widow was still living (with her second husband ) in August 1904. I saw her in Conyngham at that time and William was at that time living in Hazleton. The last of his family.
Mr. Aller, an old German tailor, no relatives or heirs of his could be found after death and a younger woman by the name of Salinda Keck, got his house and lot. I do not remember what was her claim for the property. She later married David Mumars who soon after died.
John Menig ws keepin the hotel owned by Brundgage. He gafe up the hotel and moved into a house that he owned. That had been vacated by his son Charles who had built a new house on the lot next door.

Note by Doug Mumma - While Mr. Grant's writing appears to be quite accurate, I don't think it excludes Jesse Mumaw from being a son of John and Catharine
