Christian is recorded in the German 1st Reformed church records of Baltimore as Christopher Mumma., born 27 Mar 1822, baptized 9 June 1823
Chrisitian is idenified in an 1858 Baltimore Deed, GHC 23 folio 289, in which the property of his father, William, is sold. He and his sister, Susannah wife of Richard Plowman, are named.
Christian is also identified in his maternal grandfather's Will.

Christian was first married to Ruth Hendrix and he had two children by her, but she died in 1854. The two children went to live with Ruth's grandparents in York County, PA. Christian Mumma then married Cathrine Renner in Carroll County 4-4-1855 and had additional children
