7/5/2004: On 2 July 2004 I returned to Sixteen Cemetery with Kathryn S. Antalvari, and Laurie and Bill Harkey. We were able to find the headstone of Barbara Mumaw Dill and a sandstone monument with the inscriptions of John Mumaw and his wife, Martha Thompson Mumaw. All inscriptions were badly weathered but we recorded what we could read of them as follows:
Barbara's head stone - "In memory of Barbara, wife of Thomas Dill. Died May 1, 1838. Aged 42 years, ? months, ? days."
The monument - "John Mumaw, Died Feb 1, 1877. Aged 66 years, 11 months, 21 days."
-"Martha Mumaw. Died Feb 26, 1896. Aged ? years, ? months, ? days."
The other two sides of this monument were either illegible or unmarked.
There were no clear indications that Jacob Mumaw or his wife, Elizabeth, were buried there but there were two small monuments adjacent to the John/Martha stone that were completely illegible that may have represented their graves. We had no access to cemetery records in the Sixteen St. John's Church on this visit.
