L. Joseph Alfano, 88, passed away on January 11, 2018 at Manor Care Dallastown.
He was the husband of Nancy M. (Wagner) Alfano, who passed away on July 21, 2014, just a few months shy of their 65th wedding anniversary.
Born June 21, 1929 in York, to Joseph J. and Bertie E. (Mumma) Alfano.
He was a 1947 graduate of North York High School and a 1951 graduate of Temple University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Alfano spent his entire career in various writing and administrative capacities in the advertising industry in York and Phoenix, AZ. Most of that time was spent writing for the W.H. Long Co. and its successor Adams Associates Inc.
Mr. Alfano had been a member of the Phoenix Advertising Club, Sales and Marketing Associates of York, the Lafayette Club, the Outdoor Country Club, and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
Mr. Alfano is survived by two sons, Larry and his wife, Judy of Mansfield, OH and Steven of Cape May, NJ; six grandchildren, Brad Alfano and his wife, Stephanie and Bryan Alfano, both of York, Andrew and Chelsea Alfano of Ipswich, MA, Katie Cline-Herron of Trenton, MI, and Kelly Cline of Columbus, OH; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Miller, Brianne, Alyssia, and Anthony Alfano, all of York; and one great-great-granddaughter, Nancy Miller of York.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 1907 Hollywood Drive, York, with the Rev. Laura Haupt officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. A private burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
