The fact that Elizabeth is the product of George's marriage to Alice "Elizbed" Baughman is deduced from the fact her father, George Anthony, was named in the estate proceedings of John Baughman. Various papers list George as the husband of John Baughman's deceased daughter named Alice or Elizbed Baughman. The only way, by law, that George would be named in the estate distribution is if he and Alice produced children. Further evidence shows that George's Will gave additional monies to the eldest child, Elizabeth and nothing was given to her by her supposed mother Barbara Weber Mumma for probably an obvious reason, she was not her child. In fact, Elizabeth was not even named in Barbara's will even though we have determined she was alive at the time Barbara Mumma wrote her Will in 1788.
The name of her husband, John Carle, was identified in George Anthony Mumma's Will since she was married at the time he wrote it.
From the Kauffman-Coffman Family book by Charles Fahs Kauffman (1940), states the following and I quote:
"Magdalena Kauffman ( - ) md. John Correll ( - 1793) who seems to have been a son or brother of Christopher Charles or Corle of Strasburg Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. Both John and Christopher or Christian Correll's name appear on a deed in 1790. Among those listed in the 1718 tax list for Lanaster Co., is Charley Christopher which is apparently Christopher Charly or Correl or Karle. A Christian Charles died 1791 leaving a widow Catherine who later married Baltzer Peterman and had issue Christian, Mary, George and Susanna, residing in Strasburg Twp. Magdalena, wife of John Correll, was living in 1807. The farmstead touched Millersville and extended southward to the Conestoga Creek." ........
.........."The son of John Correll & Magdalena Kauffman was named John K. Correll ( - 1815) md. Elizabeth Mumma, dau. of Geo., Mumma. Moved to Washinton Co., Md., later to Rockingham and Greenbriar, Va."
It is unclear as to the validity of this connection and should be investigated. At the moment I am suspect of John Carle and John Kauffman Correll being one in the same person.
