Ray W. Mummaw
Ray W. Mummaw, 85 of 200 Luther Lane Columbia died Sunday at home. He was the husband of Mary Bard Mummaw his wife of 53 years. Born in Ironville, he was the son of the late Guy K. Sr. and Marie Walker Mummaw. Ray retired after 22 years of service from Reading Heating and Supply Company where he worked as a supply representative. He also served as a West Hempfield Township supervisor from 1979 thru 1985. A U.S.M.C veteran of WWII he served his country in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a lifelong member of the Ironville United Methodist Church; Life member of the West Hempfield Township Fire Co.; Ironville Rod and Gun Club; PA State Fox Hunters Association; PA Dog Owners Protective Association; Austin-Costello Sportsman Club; Rose Tree Fox Hunting Club; Mason Dixon Hunting Association and the American Legion Post 543 Red Lion PA. In addition to his wife are his brothers, Al husband of Lois Mummaw, Columbia; Drew husband of Betty Mummaw, Mount Joy; sisters, Sara Jane Raber, Elizabethtown; Nancy M. Mummaw, Landisville and Mildred wife of Lee Singer, Ironville. Multiple nieces and nephews also survive. His siblings, Harold, Gordon, Guy Jr., Frances Mowrer and Carolyn Zimmerman, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held from the Ironville United Methodist Church 4020 Holly Drive Columbia PA on Thursday at 11:00Am with the Rev. Charles Deutsch and Rev. Cheryl Hoffman officiating. Private interment in Ironville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday on hour prior to the service. At the request of the family, kindly omit flowers.
