Wayne Mummaw, served in Navy
Wayne Mummaw, 79, of 9 Countryside Drive, Gordonville, Pa., died Monday at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. He had been ill since March.
Mummaw retired from Masonic Homes Power House, where he worked from 1983 to 1993. He previously was a tender and a mechanic in the boiler room of the former Zausner Foods, New Holland, from 1964 to 1983.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1942 to 1962 through World War II and the Korean War.
He was a 1940 Columbia High School graduate and enjoyed auto racing.
Born in Columbia, Pa. he was the son of the late Vernon and Rebecca G. Young Mummaw. He was known to family & friends as "Moe".
He was married 31 years on Oct 1 to Patrica Kurtz Mummaw.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a stepson, Neal, husband of Pam Jones Overly of New Holland; two stepdaughters, Cindy Overly and Lisa, wife of David Bush, both of New Holland; three grandchildren; and a brother Vernon Jr., husband of Fern Mummaw of Orange Park, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Jane Sherts and Lillian Rettew.
