Marriages & Deaths in the BS-1871-75, page 112, Baltimore (Maryland) Sun, Tuesday, December 28, 1875: SUDDEN DEATH---John Mumma, aged about 30 years, died yesterday morning at the residence of his parents, No. 155 Greenmount avenue, this city, after a brief illness. He had recently received some injuries under circumstances which he did not explain, and on Wednesday last he complained of suffering from pains in the head. Under medical treatment he recovered sufficiently to be able to go about the house, and on Christmas night was in good spirits. On Sunday night he was again taken ill and died yesterday morning. Mr. Mumma was a butcher by occupation. The physicians as yet have not determined whether the injuries precipitated his death. 1890 Baltimore City Directories.
