Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 06, 2005 at United Methodist Church in Dighton, Kansas.
Interment: Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors: Carl is survived by his wife, Queena Mumma of the home, and two daughters; Judith Ann Gugler of Manhattan and Carla Mumma of Topeka. Grandchildren; Cindy Wallis-Lage of Leawood, Krishna Sallman of St. Paul, Mn., Marc Gugler of Gravois Mills, Missouri, Kali Sallman of Manhattan, Ananda Sallman of Kansas City, Missouri and Shanti Wendler of Pittsburg, Pa. Two brothers; Bill Mumma and wife Waunita of Independence and Clarence Mumma of Kansas City, Kansas. One sister, Shirley Merritt of Pleasanton, sister-in-law, Edna Mumma of Garden City, and along with four great-grandchildren; Austin, Jackson and Madison Lage as well as Zea Sallman Brown.
Carl died at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born in Lane County, Kansas the son of Clarence and Melissa (Stewart) Mumma. He grew up in Lane county and on may 6, 1939 he married Queena Wolfe. They had three children; Judith Ann, Jerry Allen and Carla. For several years after his marriage, Carl operated his own trucking business through Oklahoma, Louisiana, Oregon and Kansas. He then was involved in ranching and farming in Garnett, Kansas, Eastern Colorado and Lane County. Carl and his family settled in Lane County in 1958 where they were active in the United Methodist Church. For 34 years, Carl and Queena wintered in Del Rio, Texas where they enjoyed fishing and playing cards, but Carl continued to farm until the age of 85. Carl was a man of many trades but his true talent and love of farming allowed plenty of opportunity for his favorite pastime; fixing anything with moving parts. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Jerry, one grandson, Simon Wendler, two brothers and three sisters.
