Irene S. Ryerson
MARSHALL, Ill., ? Irene S. Ryerson, 94, of rural Marshall, formerly of West York, died at the home of her daughter on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at 3:54 a.m. She was born July 7, 1915, in Bennington, in Edwards County, the daughter of John L. Elkins and Mary Sirbina Moomau Elkins. She retired from L. S. Heath and Sons in 1982, after 27 years of service as a machine operator. She was a member of West York Bible Church, formerly the West York United Methodist Church. She married Byron Garnet Ryerson on Dec. 31, 1946, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1989. She also was preceded by her parents; three daughters, Barbara Allison, Mary Jane Weaver, and Sue Ella Ryerson; two sisters, Nola Elkins and Margaret Pleasant; her half sister, Eleanor Elkins; and her grandson, Bobby Allison. She is survived by her daughter and son?in-law, Carol and Loren D. Cannady of Marshall; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Beatrice Goodwin of Robinson, Maxine Harrison of Marshall, and Thelma Lowe and her friend Paul Rosenberg of Robinson; and her brother and sister-in-law, John S. Elkins and Lillian Elkins of Kings Mountain, N.C.Funeral services are 11 a.m. CST Wednesday at West York Bible Church, with Brother Joe Griffith in charge of services. Burial is at Bradbury Cemetery, rural West York. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, and 10 a.m. until services Wednesday at the church.
